Edinburgh Castle played a pivotal role in Scottish history as a military stronghold and also as a royal residence. Castle Rock rises above the western end of Princes Street and the castle car park has excellent views over the southern side of the city towards the Pentland Hills.

Edinburgh's Royal Mile is home to Jim's Fudge Kitchen, John Knox House and many shops selling souvenirs and crafts items. Browse through Scottish tartan, Celtic crafts, candles, bongos, ornate mirrors and incense here or stop off at one of The Royal Mile's many eateries.
