Reason Number 16 - The Scottish Houses of Parliament
Visiting the Scottish Houses of Parliament
The Scottish Houses of Parliament were formally opened by Queen Elizabeth II on October 9, 2004 following the partial devolution of the United Kingdom. Located amidst the historic buildings of Holyrood, the Parliament buildings are an illustration of modern architecture at its best, and of history unfolding around us.
Visiting the Scottish Parliament Building
Some parliamentary sessions and committees are open for public viewing, but it is advisable to book tickets well in advance as this is very popular. When parliament is not in session the public are welcome to explore and view this remarkable, if controversial building.
