City Centre museums include:

- National War Museum of Scotland - based in Edinburgh Castle
- The Royal Museum - huge array of artefacts from the natural world
- The Edinburgh Museum - history of the city from prehistoric times

Moving away from the city:

- The Museum of Flight - based at East Fortune Airfield
- Queensferry museum - picturesque location and interesting collection of historic artefacts
